LE PRETERIT ET PASSE PROGRESSIF
Formation
LE PRETERIT simple correspond un peu à l’imparfait en français. Lorsque le verbe est régulier, il se forme à partir du verbe auquel on ajoute la terminaison -ed : Work ==> worked.
LE PRETERIT
Certaines modifications orthographiques sont nécessaires, notamment, il convient de doubler la consonne finale lorsque le verbe ne comporte qu’une seule syllabe et que la consonne finale est précédée d’une seule voyelle courte : Beg ==> begged
